XBOX is shifting its strategy toward its console platform, with a new job listing revealing how the company plans to improve the gaming experience. The listing outlines a goal of reaching 1 billion daily active users while focusing on console engagement, game discovery, and player retention. It also provides insight into how Xbox plans to develop its ecosystem and support Series X and Series S players through new features and updates.
XBOX recently posted a job listing that suggests where the console platform is headed. The listing is for a Principal Software Development Engineer on the XBOX Product Growth team. It was published on October 30, is fully remote, and is based in Canada. The job description starts with the company's goal of reaching 1 billion daily active users.

XBOX is Hiring a New Team to Improve the Console Experience
The listing also explains that XBOX is resetting its strategy to focus on core content creation and connection. This team will focus on the console pillar by winning on console, delighting players, and giving them reasons to return and experience gaming within the XBOX ecosystem. The role involves shipping features quickly, learning through data-backed experimentation, and creating experiments that influence how millions of players discover games.
It also states that no feature area is off limits. This means the team will not be limited to improving one particular menu or feature. Instead, it could work across the entire console experience, from the moment you turn on your console to the moment you put down your controller. The focus on core content creation and connection did not come out of nowhere.
On October 6, XBOX CEO Asha Sharma held an internal town hall, and Windows Central obtained the transcript. During the meeting, Sharma described the four Cs as the priorities that will lead XBOX forward. She also explained the company's purpose, stating that XBOX exists to be where the world plays. She said the company would know it had reached its goal when it had 1 billion daily active users.
She also explained that XBOX has the opportunity to win because it is now focusing on its fans and franchises. This confirms that the 1 billion daily active users mentioned in the new job listing comes directly from the company's leadership. However, console players should pay attention to what Sharma said about Series X and Series S.
XBOX is Investing in Series X and S Again
This is not the first time XBOX has talked about investing in its console platform. Back in April, Sharma said the company was investing in Series X and Series S to make them a first-class experience again. She also said XBOX formed a team to work on console features. Players who remain on the current generation should have a supported console with regular updates.
The update released on October 28 included 10 new features. These included Mythic achievements for completing every original achievement in a game, along with the ability to choose startup animations from previous XBOX generations, including XBOX One. The update also added game save management, letting players remove old saves and free up storage space.
Remote Play now supports up to 1440p, while players can also remove games from their recently played list. The update introduced an immersive background mode that hides the dashboard. Search across large game libraries has also been improved, and cloud games now appear automatically in My Games and Apps.

The new job listing provides some clues about what XBOX could work on next.
Although the company has not confirmed specific features, the responsibilities described in the listing point to several areas of focus. The job listing repeatedly mentions how players discover games. This suggests XBOX could keep experimenting with the dashboard and how it presents games.
We could see changes to how the home screen displays new games, Game Pass additions, what friends are playing, and available discounts. Sharma has also hinted that Game Pass will become more flexible for more players. As a result, the way games are recommended and displayed on your console could change.
Giving players reasons to come back is another goal mentioned directly in the listing. Mythic achievements already show this approach. Completing every achievement in a game gives players something permanent to display. We could add more features around this idea, including rewards, challenges, events, and improved player profiles.
