Overwatch Details Symmetra’s Rework to Defense Hero
Symmetra no longer support

Symmetra's role as support has been questioned since the launch of Overwatch. With every character within the role having access to a health recovering ability Symmetra’s shields, post-launch included has never fit into the support role to the same degree. Now Blizzard is reworking Symmetra to a defense hero instead.

Detailed by Geoff Goodman Symmetra will feature a maximum turret deployment of 3 instead of 6, will deal more damage, reduce movement speed even greater, increased turret placement distance, and have increased health.
Symmetra's primary weapon will no longer lock-on targets but instead be a high-powered beam that increases in damage and size over time. The damage has been increased from 30/60/120 to 65/130/195 but will require 2 seconds of combined damage to increase instead of 1. Symmetra will generate ammo for attack barriers now.
Her alternate attack will have an increased speed of 10 m/s to 30 m/s with splash damage. Direct hits will deal 130 damage.
Perhaps the biggest change is her ultimate which will feature a photo barrier. The teleporter will be available through the E ability slot but will operate differently. Players can place an exit but the entrance will be placed in front of Symmetra instead of the spawn area. Blizzard is testing the new teleporter with the current build allowing ultimates to travel through it such as D.Va's self-destruct mech.
This marks the second major change to the hero but over the course of its development, many changes have been drastically altered such as Mercy and recently, Hanzo.
Overwatch is now available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
