Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Guide | How to Find Hatenna and Evolve into Hatterene
Find Hatenna near pond clusters, then evolve it at Level 32 and Level 42 for the full line.
Game Guide by Jubair Baky on Mar 02, 2026
Hatenna is not found everywhere in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, but it is still easy to pick up once you visit the right habitat. It tends to appear near ponds, so you can skip long searching and head straight to water-heavy areas.
After you catch it, both evolutions are simple level-ups, which makes finishing the line quick once you start training.
Best Place To Find Hatenna
Hatenna is found in only a few locations, and the most reliable hunting route is in a general area packed with ponds. Focus on the cluster of ponds that sit close together. In this zone, you are likely to find Hatenna quickly. Check the pond edges first, then circle to the next pond and repeat.
It can also spawn near another nearby pond in the same route, so keep your search tight around the water instead of drifting far away.

Catch Hatenna Once It Spawns
When you spot Hatenna, start the encounter and catch it like normal. Since this area can produce one pretty quickly, you can also keep moving between ponds if you do not see it right away. Staying near water is the main trick because Hatenna seems to like ponds.
Evolve Hatenna Into Hattrem
After you catch Hatenna, level it up to Level 32. Once it reaches Level 32, it evolves into Hattrem automatically. If you want to speed this up, you can use Exp. Candies to push it straight to the evolution level.

Evolve Hattrem Into Hatterene
After Hattrem evolves, keep leveling it normally. The second evolution happens at Level 42. Once Hattrem reaches Level 42, it evolves into Hatterene automatically. This is another simple evolution, so you only need to hit the level requirement.

Quick Training Tip For A Fast Full Evolution
If you want the whole line quickly, keep Hatenna in your party while you battle, then top off the last few levels with Exp. Candies. This gets you to Hattrem at Level 32, then to Hatterene at Level 42, without extra grinding.
