Star Fox Guide | All Alternate Routes
Here's a guide on showing all alternate routes in Star Fox.
Game Guide by Groot on Jun 28, 2026
There are 16 missions in total for Star Fox on the Nintendo Switch 2, but you won't get to experience them all in one go. The game branches off into various paths based on the actions you take in each mission. Some of those paths will take you to the true ending, where you will battle Andross' true form.
Others take you down the normal path to another finish. Understanding how each mission relates and what is required to unlock each path is the key to determining where you will end up. All missions in Star Fox and how to get to them.

Every Mission and How to Unlock It
All runs begin at Corneria. No unlock needed — it's the first mission.
It takes you to Meteo normally from Corneria. If you wish to go to Sector Y, you must save Falco during the mission and then fly under the arches above the water. Falco will lead you through a waterfall to the other route.
If you reach 100 Mission Hits before the end of the level, you will be able to go to Aquas from Sector Y. Complete it as usual and you end up in Katina. Alternatively, you can save Slippy from three enemies on Meteo and then fly through seven red Warp Gates.
There is no alternate exit at Aquas. Completing it always takes you to Zoness.

If you destroy all the searchlight buoys before being spotted, you will be taken to Sector Z by Zonens. If you complete it the normal way, you will be sent to Macbeth. Macbeth can also be accessed by finishing Solar, or by maintaining all teammates alive via Sector X.
After normal completion of Meteo, Fichina opens up. Normally, finishing Fichina will lead you to Sector X. If you defeat all of Star Wolf on Fichina, or destroy the Saucerer mothership on Katina before time expires, you head to Solar.
Sector X is reached by finishing Fichina normally. To get to Sector Z from Sector X, fly through four Warp Gates (left at the fork first). Slippy will drop off in Sector X, which will lead you to Titania. If you keep all the teammates alive, you go to Macbeth.
If you don't destroy the mothership, you will end up in Sector Z and Area 6. If you don't complete it, you will be sent to Bolse.

If you derail the train using the Landmaster by hitting the eight switches, you will be in Area 6. Miss that and you're at Bolse.
The route from Bolse leads to Venom, which can be reached by completing Macbeth normally or by completing Sector Z.
Area 6 opens up from Sector Z or Macbeth under the conditions listed above. Upon finishing Area 6, you will enter Venom 2 and the true ending route.
How to Reach the True Ending
Reaching Venom through Bolse puts you up against Andross, but not his real form. To get the true ending in Star Fox on the Nintendo Switch 2, you need to reach Venom 2 through Area 6. To get to Area 6, you have to derail the train on Macbeth by hitting the eight switches with the Landmaster. The only way to get to Venom 2 and Andross' true form is through that path in Area 6.
