Here's a guide on how to earn medal in Area 6 in Star Fox.

In Star Fox on the Nintendo Switch 2, Area 6 is a Medal area that takes 300 hits to earn, but if you're prepared, you can get more than 400 hits. You should have at least three Bombs and the Double Laser (if available) before you begin.

By now you should be near 9 Bombs and have the Double Laser. It is possible to go in with only one laser, but it makes things more difficult.

The Minefield

The first thing you hit after the opening enemy group is the minefield. Place a Bomb at the beginning of it. A single Bomb can add approximately 50 hits at a time. Another mine further in can take you to 90. This is one of the quickest methods to score early. If you don't have Bombs going in, restart the mission — you start with 3 by default, and you need them here.

The Starting Area

After the minefield, groups of enemies start coming in from different directions. Work on groups first — they provide the most hits. There are also disc-shaped ships floating around the area. Each disc will be worth approximately 3-4 points. They are not the priority, but remove them between waves if you have time. If enemies attack Falco, wait for them to group up before shooting to kill multiple enemies with one shot.

When the game gives you a choice between a Golden Ring and the Double Laser, always take the Double Laser.

The Big Ships and Incoming Missiles

Once larger ships are seen, they fire missiles that orbit around them before firing. Wait a second before firing — let the missiles approach the ship so that you can fire the missiles and the ship at the same time with a charged shot. Avoid firing too early or you will miss the missiles altogether.

When R.O.B. sends a message, accept it right away. His fire destroys ships and gives you points, even if you're not firing the gun. R.O.B. will deal with the ships, and you can concentrate on shooting the turrets on those ships with a charged shot to get even more hits.

The Big Missile Waves

In this section, you will be hit by two waves of big missiles. In normal mode, if you are hit by one, it will not end the mission, but in Expert mode, it will take your wings. Bring them down quickly with the Double Laser. This section will also target your teammates, so watch for who needs assistance between missile waves.

Discs, Butterflies, and the Checkpoint

Once the missile waves, you enter an area filled with discs and small ships that orbit the area. Clear most of them by dropping a Bomb at the beginning of this section and at the end. With the Double Laser, continue to drill through whatever remains as you proceed. Do not leave the Butterflies alone, they will take your wings if you don't pay attention to them. Take them down as soon as they appear on screen.

The checkpoint should be reached with approximately 198 hits. That leaves approximately 100 more to go.

Post-Checkpoint: Getting the Second Double Laser

After the checkpoint, a formation of enemies appears. Use a charged shot to take out as many as possible. This is a good area to use a Bomb in, as the enemies are grouped together but not grouped tightly enough to be caught by a charged shot.

The most crucial part of this section is the second Double Laser. If a big group of enemies is lined up, shoot a charged shot. Look for the hit indicator and then shoot a second charged shot right after. When both shots are in, the Double Laser will be behind the group. Pick it up and move on.

Turrets on the Ships

The ships you see from here on have turrets on top of them. Most of your remaining hits are from these turrets. Fire your charged attack as soon as it's ready, without locking, and aim it directly at the turrets, rather than waiting for a lock-on. This free aim approach will hit more turrets per shot and will get you to 300 much quicker than just targeting the ships. Continue this process for each wave and your count will quickly increase.

Save Slippy Before the Final Wave

Before the final wave, Slippy will get chased by a Butterfly. Get to him right away. He will go down if left too long and you will have to restart. When he is safe, the last wave starts. Take the incoming message from R.O.B. 64, destroy the turrets on all ships you encounter, and shoot down incoming rockets. Use the same turret technique as before and you'll reach 300 kills before the boss fight begins.
