We like active projects, even if it means more Afro Samurai.

Publisher Versus Evil, who started its company with the recent release of The Banner Saga, is branching out to more independent developers. In a recent statement, it announced that it will be working with studios to release both roleplaying game (RPG) Kyn and a sequel for Afro Samurai.

Developer Redacted Studios will be continuing their work on Afro Samurai, despite the first game not being an instant classic. Then again, this is the studio that made that weird Call of Duty-like Ace combat Assault Horizon that made the series disappear, so don’t get your hopes up. To redeem their honor, they also did Crash Nitro Kart. That was alright, wasn’t it? Anyway, it's headed to PC and the latest consoles and pitches something called "dynamic dismemberment." Certainly, that will be something classy, right? We're asking too many questions.

Moving on, we’ve talked about Kyn and its party-based RPG design before. In fact, you can watch us play it a bunch while discussing it in the preview we did for it. It’s pretty solid already. They say it's like Syndicate, the old one not the weird EA reboot, which is sort of true.

Moreover, Versus Evil announced that it will expand The Banner Saga to mobile devices this summer, for those who want to get bummed out on the go. Read our review for that as well, because it’s a great title.

Previously, the company also announced that it would support space survival game Habitat. It now revealed that its scrap-building ways will make it to Early Access on Steam on July 8, 2014. It hereby cleverly jumps past the current Summer Sale, which swallows all.

There’s a lot to get excited about in indie land. Feel free to tell us in the comments which one of these tickles your fancy the most.
