Publisher Kakao Games has announced the release date for the Margoria update in Black Desert Online. This sprawling world on PC will receive the mostly maritime expansion on January 25, 2017.
Margoria will add several naval possibilities to the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, such as the ability to fight monsters underwater or building a ship. Moreover, Black Desert Online will receive over 100 new quests and guilds will be able to fight each other on boats over control of trade routes.

This upcoming batch of content is the conclusion of a prior Ocean update, which came to the roleplaying game (RPG) in October. Last year’s patch opened up the massive world to a ton of aquatic exploration. With the Margoria update, the possibilities will expand to fully featured combat, to make water more than just a space.
Black Desert Online is an MMORPG mostly known for its visual splendor. When first announced, most of the reception focused on an incredibly detailed character customization feature, but the rest of the world shares a similar amount of visual quality. While perhaps not the most popular choice in its genre, Black Desert Online does manage to attract a decent player base, even if publishers are fairly cryptic with numbers. Last year did tout over 1 million players and a concurrent user base of 100,000.
It’s possible to try out Black Desert Online for free. A 7-day pass allows unsure people to try out the gorgeous setting and see if they also like the actual gameplay within.
According to MMOsite, a pre-load for the Margoria update is already present in Black Desert Online, for people with slower connections, who need to prep their downloads accordingly. It may be wise to wait out a 7-day trial a week or so, to coincide with the additional content.
