Team Salvato has announced that Doki Doki Literature Club will have an expanded re-release for Steam and the Epic Game Store on June 30. It will also come to consoles like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The update - titled Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! - will include new side story events, new music and a menu to track various files, and new unlockable art. While the game at first presents itself as a typical dating simulator, after a few in-game days it becomes clear that the main cast of love interests - Sayori, Natsuki, Yuri, and Monika - are not at all what they seem. Players will constantly be subjected to violent horror, gaslighting, deception, tales of abuse, and other psychological bombardments.

It is unclear how the console versions of the game will play. The original PC release used many meta tools of the platform to enhance the experience. This included files being added to the game’s installation directory as the story unfolded, visiting outside websites, and even using image software like Photoshop to learn the whole story. It is possible that the new music browser will simulate this, as it includes a desktop interface.
