Death Trap Rogue is one of the strongest endgame Rogue builds in Diablo 4 Season 13. It focuses on casting Death Trap again and over again with very minimal downtime. Once the setup is up, you may easily conquer high-level Pit content, collect enemy packs and burst down Torment 12 Lair Bosses with significant area damage.

How The Death Trap Rogue Build Works

The main goal of this build is to keep Death Trap available at all times. To do that, you need four major breakpoints: Death Trap Cooldown Reduction, at least 225 Maximum Energy, instant Energy Restoration, and strong Trap Arm Time Reduction.

Your Death Trap cooldown should be reduced to 15 seconds or lower through gear, tempering, and the Deadly Ambush Paragon board. The 225 Energy requirement matters because the build uses the Preparation specialization with Beastfall Boots to reset cooldowns after spending Energy.

Required Gear And Energy Setup

The two most important pieces are Beastfall Boots and Aspect of Aftermath. These are mandatory because they allow the build to spend and restore enough Energy to keep resetting Death Trap. To restore the full 225 Energy, you need enough ranks in Death Trap, which can come from charms, your amulet, and supporting aspects.

For Maximum Energy, look for Maximum Resource on your chest and charms. Sealord’s Fine Gloves can also help by increasing your Energy once fully stacked. For cooldown reduction, prioritize Greater Affix cooldown rolls on your helmet, gloves, rings, and amulet, then add cooldown tempers where possible.

Best Skills For Death Trap Rogue

Death Trap is your main damage skill. Pulls enemies together and does massive AoE damage. Use Dash and Shadow Step to get into enemy packs and to keep the build fast. Cold Imbuement helps apply freeze and weaken effects, Dark Shroud makes it easier to survive when diving into dangerous groups. Concealment adds stealth and increases your crit chance to help activate the Sightless Set bonuses.

You should invest heavily into Death Trap, Dark Shroud, Concealment, and Cold Imbuement. Dash and Shadow Step are mainly mobility tools, so they do not need heavy skill-point investment.

Best Damage Priorities

For damage, look for Critical Strike Damage Multiplier, Vulnerable Damage Multiplier and Shadow Damage or All Damage multipliers. Death Trap deals Shadow damage, hence the best weapon gems for it are Amethysts.

The Sightless Set Talisman is also valuable because it gives strong damage multipliers and damage reduction. Look for a seal with percentage damage or critical strike damage, plus an extra charm slot. Legacy of the Sightless with Ultimate Cooldown Reduction or Ultimate Skill Ranks is especially useful.

Best Endgame Variants

The normal configuration is already rather powerful for high-end farming, but there are advanced versions that can take it even further. The Infinite Step version is all about extreme mobility by reducing the Shadow Step cooldown to teleport all over the place while still killing with Death Trap. The bossing variant drops some mobility and utility in favor of stronger single-target damage with Rust-Bitten Dagger.

Paragon Board Priorities

Start with Combat on the starter board, then move into Eldritch Bounty with Canny. After that, prioritize Deadly Ambush, because its Trap Arm Time Reduction and Trap Cooldown Reduction nodes are essential for making the build work properly. From there, continue into No Witnesses and Cheap Shot for more damage and survivability.
