The Thraws of Twilight update introduces a dynamic gem system to Enshrouded, granting players powerful modifiers for weapons and playstyles. Two of the new gems stand out because they could change the game, but are still easy to miss without a straightforward way.

This guide tells you how to get the Gem of Hopeful Embers, the Firemark Gem from the Sun Temple, and a guaranteed gem that drops from a boss late in the game. Each part gives exact locations, farming strategies, and critical notes to make sure that these valuable improvements are farmed successfully.

Gem of Hopeful Embers

With the Gem of Hopeful Embers, players can stay in the Shroud forever as long as enemies keep appearing. Get this gem by going to Pike's Port, which you can find by the two bright flowers close to where you land.

The key requirement is defeating a Banshee, which only spawns during evening hours for a brief window. As there is no in-game clock, players must observe the sky lighting; if the Banshee is present, it is the correct time. Upon defeating the Banshee, there is a high—but not guaranteed—chance to receive the gem.

This gem activates when the remaining Shroud timer drops below 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Every enemy defeated during this window will drop a 31-second replenishment orb.

By strategically delaying orb pickup, players can allow the timer to approach the threshold, then collect orbs to reset the Shroud duration repeatedly. This feature is beneficial for long-term exploration, gathering resources, and finding hidden places in the Shroud.

Firemark Gem in the Sun Temple

The Firemark Gem grants a stacking fire-damage bonus to marked enemies after targeting them for a few seconds. This gem is best suited for melee builds, as blocking an attack against a marked enemy builds stacks naturally before unleashing a massive burst.

To acquire the Firemark Gem, head to the Sun Temple located on the far eastern edge of the map.

Approach via gliding paths: Many players find success by ascending towers on the temple's side and gliding to the front ledge. An ogre with a scythe is waiting on this ledge. There is always this enemy, but the Firemark Gem doesn't drop very often, so you may have to try more than once.

Establish a small base nearby and clear the Skeleton repeatedly, reloading the world after each attempt until the gem appears. Take caution: the Skeleton deals heavy damage and can close gaps quickly, but it can be kited off platforms to inflict fall damage for an easier kill.

Reusable Essence Gem from the Big Mama Boss

A third gem, dropped consistently by the late-game "Big Mama" boss, provides a convenient source of essence. This gem is usually earned by completing quests, but some players might miss the chance to farm it over and over again.

When you restart the world, the boss comes back, and each defeat gives you the same gem. You can recycle these gems at the Gem Forge for 85 essences each. When you farm this gem in large amounts, you can easily switch between them without using up all of your essence.
