In Ghost of Yōtei, the Undying Samurai quest takes you through the Ishikari region as you search for four Windchimes and face the Undying Samurai himself.

Starting the Quest

To begin the Undying Samurai quest, travel to the Ishikari Plane. Locate a campfire near a Fox Den, where you will find the Storyteller. Speak with him to unlock the quest.

Once the conversation ends, open your map, and a new quest marker titled The Undying Samurai will appear. The first task requires you to find four Wind Chimes scattered across the region in Ghost of Yōtei.

Windchime 1

The first Windchime is located close to the campfire where you met the Storyteller. From the campfire, look toward the direction of the corpse the Storyteller mentioned.

The Windchime can be found hanging from a nearby tree. Once you collect it, swipe up to use the Windchime. This function will help you track the remaining ones, but you can follow the next locations directly.

Windchime 2

The second Windchime can be found near Stone Jaw Coast, positioned on a mountain in that area. Travel to the base of the hill from where you can see a body hanging. From this position, climb upward using the available ledges in Ghost of Yōtei.

You will need to get close enough to the hanging body to notice the interaction option that lets you grapple the chime. After the windchime falls, go down and pick it up. The "grab" prompt might not appear until you are close to the item, so be careful as you get closer to make sure you can grab it.

Windchime 3

The third Windchime is located at the Rumoi River. Move along the riverbank until you find a small island with a tree and a man standing near it.

Engage in a short encounter with him, as you must fight before obtaining the Windchime. After defeating him, loot his body to claim the third Windchime.

The fourth and final Windchime can be found near Nakagoya Spring, next to a Wolf Den. Use fast travel to reach this area. From the entrance of the Wolf Den, proceed north and continue until you get to a tree. The final Windchime will be hanging there. Collect it to complete the gathering phase of the quest in Ghost of Yōtei.

Undying Samurai Boss Location

After collecting all four Windchimes, head to the far western side of the Ishikari Plane, to the left of the Rumoi River. As you approach the area, you will notice several armour pieces hanging from spears. Follow the path lined with these items until you reach the end.

Along the route, you can pick up an item located nearby, which counts toward a trophy. Once you collect it, continue to the next area where you will see grappling hooks leading downward. Use them to descend safely in Ghost of Yōtei.

Before entering the boss fight, you can set up a campsite to restore your abilities. After reaching the bottom, place all four wind chimes you have collected. Once they are positioned, the Undying Samurai will appear, initiating the boss battle.

Defeat the Undying Samurai, then loot his body to obtain the armour set. Upon collecting it, a short cutscene will play, showing your character wearing the newly acquired armour in Ghost of Yōtei.
