You will not find this resource lying around on the open road. Instead, it is locked behind a hidden trial arena located toward the end of the Crimson Forest region. Here is exactly where to track down the trial tree and earn your first heart in Phantom Blade Zero.

Finding Trial Tree in Crimson Forest

Progress through the main campaign in Crimson Forest until you face and take down the boss named Stone Fist Iron Fever. Right past this encounter area, you will reach and ring the Parting Mists bell.

From the Parting Mists bell platform, look down and drop to the lower ground. Head straight across toward the isolated island situated right in front of you.

Stand next to the large tree growing on the island and interact with its trunk. By interacting with the tree, you will be warped right into The Banyan Tree's trial realm in Phantom Blade Zero.

Completing the Trial and Claiming The Heart

To win your prize, you must take out 3 successive waves of enemies in the trial realm. The trial saves your progress after each completed round at an internal bell checkpoint, so dying does not reset the entire run from wave one.

The third and final round pits you against Jing Ye, the mounted bleed bandit boss you encountered earlier in the woods.

Separate him from the additional adds in the arena, dodge his ranged bleed attacks rather than blocking them, and use the Dread Axe Phantom Edge to quickly shatter his defenses.

You knock him off his mount, and finish him off. That's the trial. Once Jing Ye falls, the trial realm rewards you with The Banyan's Heart, allowing you to unlock higher-tier combat techniques immediately in Phantom Blade Zero.
