Exploring off the beaten path in Phantom Blade Zero leads to entire zones that the main campaign never forces you to see. While moving through Weeping Creek Valley, you can easily walk right past one of the biggest optional sections in the region.

To explore that territory, you need to trigger the Deep in the Valley side quest and grab the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key. Here is how to find it in Phantom Blade Zero.

Leave the Outpost area and stick to the main road leading toward Sha-Chi Tower. Along the dirt trail, look for the Creek Valley Plains Entrance bell.

Standing right near the bell is an NPC named Panicked Mandate Disciple. Talk to him. He explains that he dropped the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key near the summit of the tower. Agreeing to help him starts the Deep in the Valley side quest.

Reaching Sha-Chi Tower Summit

Head up the mountain trail past the bell. Keep climbing until you cross a wooden rope bridge, which brings you straight to the entrance of Sha-Chi Tower in Phantom Blade Zero.

Step inside and deal with the bronze monk enemies waiting on the ground floor. Clear them out, then take the stairs to the higher levels. Near the top, you will run into an NPC named Watchful Shadow Warden. Watch the scene unfold, then keep walking upward until you hit the open roof.

Look across the top platform, and you will spot the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key resting on top of a stone pillar at the Summit of the Sha-Chi Tower.

Getting Key & Unlocking Gate

Here is the problem: you cannot jump high enough to reach the pillar right now. Trying to grab it immediately is impossible, so you have to leave the key behind for a bit.

Exit down the far side of the tower and push forward with the main story campaign. Follow the objectives until you run into the primary zone boss, The Hunt, Hunter of the Order.

Take the boss down, and you will receive the Hunter's Chain Sickle Phantom Edge in Phantom Blade Zero.

Once the weapon is in your hands, fast travel back to the Valley Sha-Chi Tower Summit bell. Use your new Hunter's Chain Sickle to grapple and pull yourself up onto the pillar to grab the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key.

With the key in your bag, head down to the base camp gate. Unlocking it clears the path to a massive chunk of Weeping Creek Valley and lets you start three follow-up quests called Four Fierce Axes, Festering Secret, and Bloodline Awakening in Phantom Blade Zero.
