If you want Gengar but do not want to trade online or deal with other players, there is a simple in-game shortcut. You can catch one specific Pokémon near the coast, then trade it to a nearby NPC.

The trade gives you a Haunter, and that Haunter evolves right away into Gengar. This method is fast, clean, and works fully offline.

Catch Pincurchin Near The Beach

Start by catching Pincurchin. It is close to beaches, and near the same general area you will be traveling to for the trade anyway. Open your map and head to the beach area shown in the route. You can find Pincurchin around the shoreline, so ride along the sand and check the water’s edge until one spawns.

Go To The NPC Trader

After you catch Pincurchin, go to the NPC shown on the map. The trader is a lady standing at the marked spot. Speak to her, and she will offer to trade. She wants your Pincurchin in return for a Haunter.

Trade Pincurchin For Haunter

Confirm the trade and hand over your Pincurchin. Once the trade finishes, you receive Haunter. This is the key step, because Haunter normally needs trading to evolve, but this in-game trade handles that for you.
