Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Guide | How to Evolve Scyther into Scizor Without Friends
Get Scizor by using a simple Link Trade code, even if nobody you know plays.
Game Guide by Jubair Baky on Mar 02, 2026
Getting Scizor usually sounds annoying because Scyther needs to be traded while holding a specific item. The good news is you can do this with the community trade code system. You only need the right held item and the correct Link Trade code, and then the evolution happens automatically after the trade.
Buy The Metal Coat From Delibird Presents
First, go to Delibird Presents and buy the battle item called Metal Coat. This is the required held item for Scyther to evolve into Scizor through trading. If you want the same store shown on the route, open your map, head to the town marked for the Delibird Presents location, then walk inside and purchase a Metal Coat.

Give Scyther The Metal Coat To Hold
Open your bag and give Metal Coat to Scyther as a held item. Make sure it is actually holding the item before you start the trade. If Scyther is not holding Metal Coat, it will not evolve after trading.
Use Link Trade With The Scyther Code
Now open Poké Portal, choose Link Trade, then set the link code to 0260 0260. This code is built around Scyther’s Regional Dex number, which is 260. Since link codes use four digits on each side, a zero is added in front, so it becomes 0260. Using 0260 0260 helps match you with someone who is also trying to trade Scyther.

Trade Scyther And Let It Evolve
Start searching for a partner. If you match with someone offering random Pokémon, skip and try again until you find a proper Scyther trade partner. Once connected, select your Scyther and confirm the trade.

After the trade completes, the received Scyther will begin evolving immediately because it was traded with a Metal Coat. When the evolution finishes, you will have Scizor.
