Several locked gates, keypads, and hidden lockboxes block your progress right from the start in the Outskirts. Here is how each puzzle works and the exact solutions you need to keep moving forward in Silver Pines.

Tune the Diner Radio

Right after waking up inside the Miner Diner, head left and enter the restroom to read a note posted on the wall. The note lists the Emergency Frequency as 89.0Hz.

Head into the kitchen and grab the Diner Key hanging directly above the radio. Interact with the radio set and tune the dial straight to 89.0Hz.

A broadcast will play through the speakers, completing the puzzle and allowing you to unlock the main exit on the right using your Diner Key.

Unlock Meat Locker in Rodney's General Store

Once you navigate through the Underpass using the Underpass Key found in Garth’s Pharmacy, you will arrive at Rodney’s General Store. The freezer door inside is locked behind a four-digit electronic keypad in Silver Pines.

Go through the door on the right and read the General Store Code note on the wall. It tells you that the code is 23 plus the day of the month.

Go back out in the hall and look at the wall calendar and see that the date is October 11th. Put those two numbers together to get 23 and 11. Walk over to the freezer keypad, type in 2311, and head inside to grab the Check In Key.

Motel Gate Keypad Code Solution

The entrance gate outside the Motel has a security keypad that blocks your path until you enter an authorized guest number in Silver Pines.

Take the Check In Key from the store freezer and make your way back to the Motel Office. Cut through the white sheet on the right with your box cutter to reveal a large storage container.

Unlock it with the Check-In Key and read the Hotel Guest Ledger inside. Look up the entry for Eddie Velvet to find his guest number, 15182. Head back outside to the locked gate, punch 15182 into the keypad, and the doors will swing open in Silver Pines.

Plaque Date & Locked Box Code

Later in the story, after taking the ferry back to Silver Pines Outskirts, you can open a locked container near the diner for an upgrade part.

Step back inside the Miner Diner and inspect the memorial plaque on the wall near the exit. It lists two distinct years, 1861 and 1972.

Leave the diner, follow the road to the left, and rip down the wooden planks blocking the door with your Crowbar. Inspect the locked metal box inside this building, enter the date 1972, and grab the Gear Box resting inside in Silver Pines.
