Gears 5 was a popular installment in the franchise. With many updates adding new content, mostly to multiplayer with new skins, Hives, and much more. Today, IGN had the chance to speak to The Coalition about the future of Gears 5 and it looks like more DLC is on the way. With story content confirmed.

The following content has been confirmed:

Two new difficulty modes (Ironman and Inconceivable)

Character Skins for Kait, Del, and JD

Weapon Skins

Jack upgrades carry over

Mutators (Big head mode, etc)

New achievements

Ironman and Inconceivable were first introduced in Gears of War 4. With Ironman having players take on the entire campaign with 1 life and Inconceivable being a higher difficultly than Insane. Players can also replay the campaign with all of their Jack upgrades in New Game Plus, which has been a heavily requested feature since the game launched last year.

The new skins will be usable with Batista joining the campaign. Players have to select the skin and Batista will take on the role of Marcus Fenix during the campaign with unique dialogue.

New Versus challenges will and changes to the Operations events will be implemented. With the developers having stronger themes connected to the new content and maps to reflect the new Operation.

Gears 5 has been confirmed for Xbox Series on day 1. With 120 FPS, cross-play, reduced loading times, and improved latency response.

The biggest addition is coming this December. New Gears 5 content is on the way which is exciting as the main campaign ended on an extremely low note. Despite many loving the campaign, the ending offered a recycled boss fight and just ended. Many compared it to the ending of Halo 2 or Gears of War Judgement. So hopefully this new DLC won't repeat this.

This does seem like the ideal choice to add new content. Gears 5 is a live service title technically and has been a huge success. With continuous content drops, changes based on player feedback, and the ability to play it with Game Pass between PC and Xbox One.

Gears 5 is now available for PC and Xbox One.
