If there's one upside to the explosion in Indie game development, it's that the world can now take in perspectives from a global view, instead of the usual suspects. Cue A Space for the Unbound, a game that tells an Indonesian story, slated for release in late 2021 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

This adventure game is set in the rural parts of the country, during the 90s. The story follows Atma and Raya, two young people who are on a journey of self-discovery. In addition to the slice of life atmosphere, A Space for the Unbound takes on topics of depression and anxiety. To top it off, there are supernatural elements to help keep things interesting.

Characters can dive into the minds of others, akin to the movie Inception, to try and uncover hidden secrets. There's a mysterious meteor and even a giant cat that appears. Together with the vibrant scenery and the quiet environments, the game has some Studio Ghibli parallels, specifically My Neighbor Totoro.

Developer Mojiken Studio and publisher Toge Productions are a prolific group from Indonesia, who have previously released games like Coffee Talk, She and The Light Bearer, as well as Ultra Space Battle Brawl, a Pong arcade game that we reviewed on Noobfeed.

While you might be waiting a long time for the finished product of A Space for the Unbound, there is a prologue available for free on Steam. This demo is part of the game's involvement at the Indie Arena Booth Online, for the year's Gamescom.
