Crimson Butterfly Ending

Most people reach this result on their first play on Normal difficulty. It is the only way to unlock New Game+. You cannot get any other endings that use Spirit Stones until you finish this one in FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE.

After the events at Kureha Shrine, follow the Crimson Butterfly from the Old Tree toward Kurosawa House.

Pick up Butterfly Diary 4 at the entrance and find Mayu's Charm on the floor. Go to the Altar Room to grab Butterfly Diary 11 from the altar. Then, crawl through the gate into the corridors.

How to Beat the Kurosawa Matriarch

Before you enter the Hall of Ropes, save your progress. Equip the Chrysocolla charm for this fight. It helps you deal more damage to many enemies at once, which is useful since the Kurosawa Matriarch boss is linked to the priests.

Focus your shots on the boss itself rather than the priests. Damaging him hurts all of them. Once his first health bar is gone, he will enter a stronger mode and heal completely in FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE.

Look for him up in the rafters and use a Special Shot to knock him down. Make sure to leave at least one priest alive while you finish the boss. If you kill all the priests, he will just go back to the rafters and call for more help.

Navigating the Deep Tunnel

After the fight, head through the Deep Tunnel. Use the Exposure Filter to open a side room on the right for some extra items. Be ready for a fight since there are enemies inside.

The Final Ritual

In the Ritual Altar room, you will face the Kusabi. He moves slowly, so stay mobile and use your strongest film in FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE.

Watch out for his projectile attacks and keep moving to avoid them. After he falls, pick up the Final Letter in the Deep Path Altar Room. Move into the Abyss to see the final scene. In this ending, Mio sacrifices Mayu to finish the ritual, just like Yae and Sae did in the past.
