Here’s a guide on how to solve the Hina Doll Puzzle in FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE.

Game Guide by TauxicPandA on  Apr 05, 2026

You will find this puzzle inside the Hina Doll Room during Chapter 4. To begin, look for Butterfly Diary 1 and the Photo: Warped Twin, which should already be in your inventory.

Walk over to where Mio is standing near the doll stand. Before you start the puzzle, pick up the Prayer Bead from the floor. You also need to grab the item lying near the display to get the Photo: Hina Doll Room and the Hina Doll Head.

Arranging the Dolls

Interact with the doll display to start the puzzle. Your goal is to move the dolls around so they look exactly like the image in the Photo: Hina Doll Room. You must also place the Hina Doll Head onto the specific doll that is missing its top.

Take your time to match the positions shown in the picture. Once every doll is in the right spot, pull out your camera and use the Exposure Filter. Aim at the display and wait for the frame to turn yellow before you take the shot in FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE.

Getting the Key

If you positioned the dolls correctly, a small box in the middle of the stand will click open. Inside the box, you'll discover the Double Diamond Key.

This key is significant; it unlocks a door situated to the right of the main entrance to the house. You probably passed this door when you first arrived at the Kurosawa House, and now you'll be able to see what's behind it.
