Cursed Loot in ARK: Survival Ascended can be farmed repeatedly from Neophytes in Lost Colony, but you must first trigger their hunts correctly. The process requires 50 Hostility, nighttime, and entering the Lost City to activate the Prey state. Once set up, Thylacoleo and Gloon strategies can kill successive Neophytes quickly.

Raise Hostility to 50

Check your Hostility indicator before starting. You need to reach 50 Hostility for Neophytes to begin hunting you.

If your Hostility is below 50, enter the Lost City and kill Thralls until it reaches the required amount. Once you reach 50, the appropriate hostility state becomes active.

Trigger a Neophyte at Night

Wait until nighttime, around 20:20, then approach the Lost City boundary. One demonstrated location is around 25 LAT, 73 LON, although the method works at other entrances.

Cross into the city until your status changes to Prey. A Neophyte will then arrive from above. Building your farming setup immediately outside the city boundary makes resetting the encounter much faster.

Trap and Bleed the Neophyte

For the safer method, build a simple 2x2 trap with an entrance large enough to lure the Neophyte inside. Wait for its dive-bomb attack, run through the trap, then escape and shut the Double Door behind it.

Neophytes heavily reduce most damage from tamed creatures, but a Thylacoleo's Gnashed effect remains effective. Its bite removes a percentage of the target's total Health over time, allowing you to wear down even high-Health Neophytes.

A Gloon is another strong option. Set it to Eyebeam mode and use a high-Melee Gloon to damage the trapped Neophyte. Gloons are particularly useful because their damage bypasses the Neophyte's usual resistance to tamed creatures.

Farm Higher-Level Neophytes

Loot the Neophyte's corpse after the kill to collect Cursed Items. Return to the city boundary and cross it again to trigger the next hunt.

The sequence begins with a Level 50 Neophyte, then increases through Level 100 and Level 150 encounters until eventually reaching Level 300. Higher-level Neophytes can provide better-quality Cursed Loot.

For faster farming, position multiple high-Melee Gloons near the city border and keep them on Aggressive. Avoid over-encumbering them, as they need to attack properly.

A Managarmr helps control the fight. Trigger the Neophyte, avoid its dive bomb, lead it toward the Gloons, and use the Managarmr's freezing attack while the Gloons fire.

Maintaining 50 Hostility and repeatedly crossing the Lost City boundary at night lets you farm increasingly powerful Neophytes for high-quality Cursed Loot.
