ARK Survival Ascended Guide | How to Solo Outpost Defense (Lost Colony)

Defense Outposts in ARK: Survival Ascended require you to protect the central tower from waves of Revenants. This Lost Colony strategy uses a Stegosaurus, an Ossidon, distraction Towers, and defensive structures to cover both entrances without constantly moving between them.

Set Up the Lost Colony Defense Outpost

The small Defense Outpost used for this strategy is around 71 LAT, 67 LON and has two main entrances. Before starting the mission, place your tames so each approach is covered.

On the side you do not plan to defend personally, position a Stegosaurus as an anchor. Set it to Passive and Ignore Group Whistles. Have an Ossidon follow the Stegosaurus; also set it to Ignore Group Whistles, then use High Targeting Range and Aggressive behavior. This keeps the Ossidon fighting nearby enemies while encouraging it to return toward the Stegosaurus.

Build Towers to Distract Revenants

Start the mission and immediately place a Tower near each entrance. Towers are important because Revenants can target them instead of rushing directly toward the central objective. Try to keep them alive, as surviving defensive structures become stronger in later waves.

Wave directions can vary, so keep an eye on both approaches even if most enemies initially appear on only one side.

Add Auto Turrets and Resource Generation

After the first wave, add another forward Tower and place Auto Turrets around the corners. Building defensive structures early gives them more opportunities to survive and strengthen through later waves. If you have enough mission resources left, add a Resource Generator to increase what you can spend during the next wave.

Next, place Tesla Coils near important defensive positions for additional damage. You can also use the available buffing structures near your Ossidon to improve your defending tame.

Survive the Final Waves

For later waves, spend excess resources on additional Tesla Coils, Auto Turrets, or Plant Species X. An Ossidon around 15,000 Health and 600% Melee Damage was used successfully in the demonstrated Gamma setup, while Beta benefits from stronger stats or additional tames.

If a Revenant Brontosaurus appears, target its feet. Ossidons can struggle to connect attacks against the Revenant Brontosaurus's legs, so direct ranged damage can help finish the threat.

After the final wave, collect the key from the defeated boss and use it to open the Vault for the mission rewards.

Using an anchored Ossidon on one entrance while Towers and automated defenses control both approaches makes a Defense Outpost manageable solo.
