Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Guide | Important Scans to Not Miss
Here’s a list of a few important Scans that you should look out for.
Game Guide by Joy Rahman on Dec 09, 2025
Scanning is an essential feature in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Although the game is far more forgiving when you compare it to its predecessors, there are still ways that you may accidentally miss logbook entries permanently.
Your ability to scan certain items will disappear after certain story aspects. Saving after missing them can essentially hamper your completion if you are keen on getting achievements.
This guide will explain and show you some of the more important scans and when you will need to collect them in the game.
Tanamaar
The opening area of the game contains three of the important scans that you wouldn't want to miss:

Federation Trooper
Easy and simple to do, and something that you should prioritize immediately as it can be difficult to retrace your steps.

Space Pirate
It's crucial that you scan it as soon as you can, as the Space Pirate won't spawn again.

Aberex
The boss, Aberax is often rarely missed, but it's important that you keep in mind that once Aberax gets defeated, you won't be able to scan him again.
Fury Green
There are a bunch of scans in Fury Green that you wouldn't want to miss:

Psychic Container
While they do appear later as you progress, they're still pretty limited and rare. So in case you do forget later down the line, it's always wise to scan them at first sight.

Vine & Pollen Sac
During the Carvex boss fight, it's important that you scan the vine and pollen sac because you won't be able to do so later in the game. Although the boss itself can be scanned after.

You will also want to scan the green energy crystal before progressing out of Fury Green.

Flare Pool
Upon reaching this stage of the game, there are a bunch of unique scans that you'll need to ensure that you don't miss.

Hover Shuttle Transport
Your first scan here is going to be the Hover Shuttle Transport. As you face it, you will need to make this encounter count as doing the fight is the only time you will be able to scan him.

Swim Snatcher
Later in the game, there will be another creature called the Swim Snatcher. During the encounter, it's important that you scan it, as that will be the only time it spawns.

Behemoth
After progressing, you will run into a brief encounter with Behemoth, which is also a creature that spawns only once.
Ensuring that you collect these scans will make your logbook progression complete without having to backtrack in Metroid Prime.
