Iron Ore is a resource that you will be collecting in large quantities early on in Solarpunk, and it's important to know where to find it from the beginning. This guide will explain where the node is and how to use it to the best of your ability.

The iron ore is found in the following places:

The first island has a permanent Iron Ore node on the opposite side of the pond. Once you know where to look, it's easy to spot and it never runs out, so you can return to it as often as you need.

Mining by Hand

In the early game, you'll be gathering Iron Ore the manual way using a Pick. Continue swinging until the pick wears out, then use another one. Having several picks with you will prevent you from stopping and running back to base during the game. Don't rush through this part of the game, take your time with it.

Moving to Automation

As you continue to progress through your tech unlocks, you will unlock a Drill that can do the mining for you. The drill runs on its own until it fills up two full stacks, at which point it stops. Later on, you'll also get the ability to automatically have that loot returned without any additional work for you. If the manual work is not interesting to you, it's worth it to prioritise those automation unlocks early.
