In Solarpunk, animals are a valuable asset to your farm, and chickens are the first animals you'll encounter. This guide will tell you what you need to unlock, how to set everything up, and how to keep your chickens producing.

Unlocking Animal Care

Everything you need for animals is in the Blueprint Machine. The pack you're looking for is the Animal Basics Pack. Remember, you don't need to unlock all of the items in a tier before unlocking the next tier. Advance the main tier and come back for the secondary tier.

What You'll Need

When you are ready to bring any chickens home, you need to have a Water Trough, a Feeding Trough, a Chicken Coop, Animal Feed, and a Watering Can. There is also an Animal Tag available, if you ever want to name an animal, but that is optional.

If you're looking to get your first chicken, this is the book for you.

Put the Water Trough down and water it with your Watering Can. Then find the first chicken on your island. With some food in your hand, such as Wheat, the chicken will begin to follow you. Return to the Chicken Coop and it will be assigned to the Chicken Coop. Then fill the Feeding Trough with food and water.

Collecting Eggs

Once the chicken has eaten and drunk enough, items will start appearing for you to pick up. In this instance, it's Eggs. Be careful not to be too close to the edge of your island, otherwise animals will fall off and you will lose them.

Finding More Chickens

If you find other chickens on other islands, bring Animal Transportation Pads with you to transport them back to your base without having to lead them home.
