Selling the Skull Mask is the second errand you take on for the Happy Mask Shop in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The shop owner offers a vague clue about finding someone who makes their home in a forest, but he leaves the exact details up to you.
If you head into the woods unprepared, you can easily waste time wandering in circles. Here is everything you need to know about who buys the mask, where they wait, and how to finish the trade in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Finding Skull Kid
The buyer you are looking for is the Skull Kid. He spends his days lounging in the trees deep inside the Lost Woods. When he spots you approaching with the mask on your face, he falls in love with the look right away and asks to take it off your hands.
To find the Skull Kid, you have to exit Hyrule Castle and go to Kokiri Forest in the south. After you reach there, climb the wooden ladders and vines to the top of the village, where a tunnel leads directly to the Lost Woods.
When you get to the Lost Woods, go down the left tunnel to an opening where Skull Kid sits in a wooden branch.
Selling the Skull Mask
Before you interact with him, open your inventory and equip the Skull Mask to one of your active item buttons in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Step on top of the short tree stump in the middle of the grass. Lock onto the Skull Kid using your target button, which is Z or ZL depending on the controller you use. Once targeted, he hops down from his perch to check out your gear. He eagerly buys it, but he only hands over 10 Rupees.
The Happy Mask Salesman demands 20 Rupees for the piece, meaning this transaction leaves you short by 10 Rupees. You must make up the difference from your own wallet.
Returning to the Happy Mask Shop
Once the exchange is finished, walk back out of the Lost Woods and return to Hyrule Castle Town Market.
The Happy Mask Shop operates strictly during daytime hours. If you reach the town gates at night, pull out your Ocarina and play the Sun's Song to speed time forward to morning.
Step inside, speak to the Happy Mask Salesman, and hand over the required 20 Rupees. Settling this debt clears the way for the next item in the trading sequence, which is the Spooky Mask in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

FAQ
Q. Can I get more than 10 Rupees from the Skull Kid?
A. No, the Skull Kid will never pay more than 10 Rupees for the Skull Mask. Paying the remaining 10 Rupees out of your own pocket is required to progress the shop quest.
Q. Does the Skull Kid give you anything else in this clearing?
A. Yes, if you climb onto the tree stump without wearing the mask and play Saria's Song on your Ocarina, the Skull Kid awards you a Piece of Heart.
