The Jackdaw is your ship in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced and your primary means of destruction. This guide covers everything you need to know to master naval warfare, find hidden crew members, and take down a Man-o’-War.
Secondary Weapon Features
Now you can alternate between firing your cannons and auxiliary gear. The forward guns no longer just shoot Chain Shot to slow down targets; you can now switch to Double Shot to strike vessels from a distance in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The side cannons still use Round Shot, but you can swap to Heated Shot to tear through hulls before targeting weak spots with the Swivel Gun.
At close range, use Heavy Shot to shatter enemy armor. Later, you can swap basic Fire Barrels for Shrapnel Barrels. The Mortar remains your best long-distance option, and adding the Dead Man's Cohort upgrade allows it to drop Carcass Bombs.

Recruiting Crew Officers
Side missions allow you to recruit specialized crew members with unique perks. Finding Lucy Baldwin unlocks a protective skill that stops incoming damage when you time a Perfect Brace correctly in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
Your new master-at-arms, The Padre, gives your vessel the Ram Dash maneuver and fights alongside you during boarding actions.
Adding Tobias "Deadman" Smith to your crew allows your side cannons to fire two volleys back-to-back. Look for these characters on your map early in the game to build your strength.
Upgrades and Economy
Your main base is located at Great Inagua in the Gibara area. Your first goal should be visiting the Harbormaster here to purchase better armor, larger ammunition pouches, and stronger guns in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
You can also upgrade your rowboat to carry more ammo when hunting Bull Sharks or Killer Whales to gather resources. The highest weapon tiers require the Diving Bell which is 5,000 Reales and unlocks through story progression.
Once you have it, search underwater areas for Ultimate Weapon Plans. Early on, buy the first couple of levels for every category since they are inexpensive and quickly double your combat power in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Combat Positioning Tactics
Winning battles depends on how you position your ship. Use forward weapons to damage sails when chasing a target. Side cannons deal the highest damage, but turning sideways leaves you open to counterattacks, so stay in motion to avoid getting hit by enemy Mortar Barrages.
If a hostile vessel pursues you from behind, drop Fire Barrels in their path. You can use the Mortar from 500 meters away to force them to steer directly into these traps, allowing you to sink large targets without taking damage.
Use your Spyglass before every engagement to locate threats, check what cargo they carry, and prioritize targets that hold the ammunition you need.
Boarding and Rewards
Disabling a Naval Convoy, a Frigate, or a Man-o'-War gives you choices on how to handle the prize. Select the Captain's Lockbox if you want a large payout of extra Reales.
Only pick this option if your hull is in good condition; otherwise, choose to repair your ship. Stop firing your weapons once the boarding prompt appears on a disabled vessel, as any extra damage will sink it and ruin the rewards.
If a target is close to breaking, a quick Ram attack or blind side-fire will disable it safely in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Hand-to-Hand Melee
You can win boarding actions without leaving your own deck. Stand by the edge of your ship and use your Pistol to headshot four high-priority targets, like heavy soldiers. Next, aim your Swivel Gun at the explosive barrels on the enemy deck to finish the fight instantly.
If you do cross over to the other ship, kick opponents into the railings to break their stance for a quick elimination.
Use pistol auto-fire or the harpoon rope gun to pull defensive enemies to the deck so you can strike them down easily. Fully upgrade your gear before trying Legendary Encounters, as those Legendary Warships ambush you immediately and hit hard in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
