Here's everything you need to know on how to unlock Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Game Guide by Ornstein on Jun 07, 2025
Unlocking Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign requires a few preparatory steps and the acquisition of specific items. In this guide, you will learn exactly what to do—step by step—so that you can add this unique character to your roster.
Obtaining the Duchess
The first step is to grab the other unlockable character in the game, which is the Duchess. This process is done mainly through RNG.
After you fail or complete a run, you may unlock an item called the Pocket Watch. You can turn that Pocket Watch in at the Round Table to unlock the Duchess.
Acquiring the Besmirched Frame
Once you have unlocked the Duchess and have completed another run, head to the Small Jar Bazaar inside the Round Table; there, you can purchase an item from the vendor called the Besmirched Frame.
This is a relic that you can equip, although it is not strictly necessary to do so.
Locating the Revenant
After purchasing the Besmirched Frame, you can go ahead and try to unlock the Revenant. Open up your map to find a little exclamation point; off to the side of the Round Table, you will find the Revenant in the corner.
Interact with them via a prompt that says "Touch Phantom". This will automatically teleport you to a slightly different area where you will participate in a boss battle.
Preparing for the Boss Battle
Before you head into this boss battle, it is up to you how you want to tackle it. Some players have success by playing Ironeye and keeping as much distance from enemies as possible. Others may find that Wylder has a little bit of cheese available via their grappling hook.
No matter which character you use, when you enter, there will be three summons as well as the Revenant, also known as the Night Idol. Your goal is to take out the Night Idol in order to unlock them.
Battle Strategy
You can take out the three summons, but you don't have to. One of them is particularly annoying—the small person with the sword—because they're quick enough to keep interrupting you and damaging you. You can leave the Skeleton alone, as they don't really get in the way too much.
A good strategy is to use your grappling hook on the Night Idol since they keep a reasonable distance from you. This can be helpful to damage them at long range while you wait for some of your ultimate abilities to regenerate.
Just buy yourself time by running around. Luckily, there's no significant penalty for failing—you'll just be teleported back to the Round Table and can try again until you're successful.
Unlocking the Revenant
Upon defeating the Night Idol, you will be teleported back to the Round Table. You will then unlock a new character known as the Revenant, as well as receive an achievement or trophy.
