Here's a guide on how to beat Lord Almeidrea and Mesmald in Tales of Arise.

The revolutionary fervor in the territory of Mahag Saar is at its peak. Your struggle for liberation brings the party right onto the deck of the enormous Mobile Fortress Gradia. It is here you must finally confront the master manipulator herself, Lord Almeidrea.
She is renowned for her extreme cruelty and her command over wind astral energy, and she will not duel you on equal terms. But instead of facing your blade herself, she sends a towering, engineered dragon zeugle named Mesmald to do her dirty work.

This fight is a massive difficulty spike and a unique dual-threat boss fight. The primary challenge to victory here is Mesmald’s massive health bar, which you’re technically monitoring and whittling down throughout the fight.
However, Almeidrea remains safe on top of the beast for most of the encounter, hurling devastating aerial magic while the dragon physically assaults you. This fight requires a perfect balance of spatial awareness, aerial target management, and strict magical disruption.
In the following guide, I will explain what preparations and fighting disciplines are necessary to break the wind master core.
Preparation and Gear Optimization
Run onto the open deck of the fortress without checking your gear and you'll be wiped out remarkably quickly when you challenge a Renan lord. Before you step through the door into the boss arena, use the elevator systems to head back down to the lower levels, or pay a visit to a nearby merchant to get the most out of your equipment tier. Make sure Alphen has the best forged blade he can use so you can inflict the most physical burst damage possible against the scales of the dragon.
Almeidrea has the master core of wind, and she floods the battlefield with elemental hazards. Your choice of defensive accessory will determine your survival entirely. It is highly recommended to craft and equip Opals on as many active party members as possible, as this accessory, in particular, cleanly halves all incoming wind and earth damage. You also need to fully restock your recovery items. Ensure you have the maximum amount of Orange Gels to keep the shared pool of Cure Points perfectly stable, and a good amount of Life Bottles to recover from unexpected aerial smashes.
Setting Up Your Party AI for Defensive Long Range Success
Mesmald is just so big, and Almeidrea is always casting spells, so you really, really need to set your companions right. Your perfect active 4-person team for this mission is Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell and Dohalim. This combat arena is vertical, and the dragon moves erratically, making it really hard for ground-locked physical fighters like Law or Kisara to hold consistent value without taking a huge amount of damage. Take direct control of Alphen to lead the charge on the front lines, and customize your team’s tactical logic in the settings menu.
Go into your Strategy menu and make Shionne and Dohalim a dedicated double-healing backline. Set their behavior to focus on recovery and resource preservation, so they will automatically cast high-level healing arts whenever anyone’s health drops to a dangerous level.
That means Rinwell is going to have to be told to keep at the maximum distance possible along the outer perimeter and to only deal in long-range elemental spells while keeping her supportive actions at the ready. Keep your supportive characters spread far along the edges of the deck so that Mesmald’s massive sweeping attacks don’t hit multiple party members at the same time.
How to Navigate Phase One and Weak Point Exploitation
As soon as the battle begins, Almeidrea will take her place on top of Mesmald while the dragon takes flight. In this first phase, the boss pair will alternate between aggressive physical dives and dense elemental zoning. Mesmald will try to crush Alphen with powerful forward claw slashes, lunge bites, and quick tail slashes with a wide horizontal arc. Meanwhile, Almeidrea will be constantly firing tracking wind arts, which are moving tornadoes that drift across the platform.
You want to generate offensive momentum safely, and you need to resist the urge to blindly run under the dragon’s belly where your vision will be heavily obstructed. Instead, direct all your offensive pressure on Mesmald's special weak points, one of the most notable being the glowing core right on his tail, at ground level even to fly. Play very patiently, and draw out the dragon's front attacks. If you time a dodge roll just right when the beast rears back, you’ll get a Perfect Evade. Follow this up with a Counter Edge strike aimed at the tail core and you’ll do a ton of posture damage.

Using Rinwell’s Mechanics of Spell Interruption
While you handle the physical threats the dragon throws at you on the ground level, you need to be hyper-vigilant about Almeidrea’s casting indicators. Throughout the entire first phase, you'll frequently spot a large purple casting circle around the boss pair as she charges high-tier wind magic, like her devastating tracking light beams. Your frontline will easily get locked into massive hit-stun loops or just get knocked out right away with these spells resolving.
Rinwell’s specialized Boost Attack is your primary means of defense against this aerial magic. When you see the purple casting gauge start to fill around Almeidrea, activate Rinwell’s boost assist. Her Astral Tome will greedily absorb the active spell, completely nullifying the oncoming elemental hazard and immediately inducing a Core Break state. The huge dragon stumbles and falls helplessly down on the metal deck, utterly paralyzed for a generous window. Tell Alphen to burn through his health pool on heavy Flaming Edge techniques to melt the boss's central health bar, with the beast downed.
Surviving the Split Phase and Escalation of Over Limit
Once you manage to get Mesmald’s health pool down to the halfway line, the structural dynamic of the fight changes significantly. Almeidrea will get off the back of the dragon and begin floating around the arena on her own, surrounded by a protective barrier. Mesmald will go into a permanent Over Limit state on the ground. Then, in this second, more chaotic phase, the dragon will go absolutely haywire, whipping its tail in fast spinning swipes and spewing continuous streams of fire across the deck.
With Almeidrea now guarded during this separation, Rinwell can no longer steal or interrupt her independent spell casting with basic actions. That means you have to completely distract your primary focus from the huge environmental dangers. Do not attempt to engage the bosses in the middle of the platform when they are actively synchronized in their fury. Instead, tell Alphen to run along the very edges of the arena to lure the dragon’s tracking physical lunges while dodging repeatedly to avoid the streams of fire, while your backline spellcasters whittle down Mesmald from afar.
Thwacking the Master Core Charging Phase
As soon as Mesmald's remaining health enters the critical danger zone, both bosses will suddenly teleport to the exact center of the arena as Almeidrea remounts the beast's head to charge her ultimate Mystic Arte, Chaotic Disaster. The party members will shout a warning out loud to indicate this event . You will have a very strict ten to fifteen seconds to react . If this giant charge goes off without a hitch, a bunch of titanic screen-filling tornadoes will crash onto the battlefield, resulting in an immediate, unavoidable team wipe on higher difficulties.

As soon as this charging animation begins, you have to throw all caution to the wind and mount a full-scale offensive rush. Immediately use Alphen’s Boost Attack to heavily stagger the beast’s skull, and pour all of your remaining physical artes into its weak points. When the casting gauge is reaching its absolute last second, a prompt will flash violently across your user interface with a specific directional pad for Rinwell’s Boost Attack. Press her input the instant it seems to trigger a unique cinematic counter, letting Rinwell fully usurp the ultimate spell and smash it back into the bosses' faces, grounding them for the final sequence.
Executing the Final Strike
If you can interrupt their ultimate magic, you'll be able to leave both Almeidrea and Mesmald utterly exhausted, without their hyper-armor and completely open to your final offensive push. Take advantage of this extended stagger window and combine Alphen's fiery sword strikes with whatever companion assist gauges are left to combo the dragon into an unbreakable hit-stun string.
The entire active party just keeps throwing their best offensive resources into the broken beast, and the blue crosshair diamond floating above its frame will be filled to maximum capacity in no time. When the Strike prompt is fully displayed on your screen, use the cinematic team-up finishing move to smash the dragon’s structure for good. This final blow will put an official end to the grueling maritime combat, opening the skies of Mahag Saar and verifying your party’s dominance over tricky elemental management.
