After the long and emotional journey through the flooded lands of Pelegion, you have at last reached the highest chambers of Del Fharis Castle. Waiting for you on his cold, lonely throne is Lord Vholran Igniseri, the cruel sovereign of water and the most formidable humanoid enemy your party has encountered yet. This is not just a battle of weapons, but a very personal ideological duel between Alphen and a tyrant who sees everyone else as a stepping stone.
Throughout the entire encounter, Vholran will require your party to have perfect defensive timing, spatial awareness, and resource management. He isn't dependent on the slow, predictable movements of lumbering giant beasts or the slow defensive posturing of standard armored commanders. Instead, he fights with terrifying agility, unleashing lightning-fast sword combinations and devastating astral arts that can completely overwhelm an unprepared frontline.

This fight is divided into two distinct and punishing phases and will test your tactical adaptability to its absolute limits. To survive his relentless onslaught, you must perfectly balance your aggressive combo strings with a hyper-vigilant defensive posture. This guide will cover everything you need to know about the exact equipment setups, party setups, and combat styles needed to finally dethrone the water sovereign.
Crucial Preparations and Elemental Gear Optimization
Charging headlong into Vholran’s grand throne room without a thorough audit of your character loadouts will result in a remarkably swift and humiliating defeat. Definitely make sure to stop at a nearby merchant or campfire to upgrade your party’s equipment tier before heading up the final elevator. You will need to ensure that Alphen is using his most powerful forged blade available. You will need to dish out some big physical burst damage to keep up with the health pool of the sovereign.
Vholran is the undisputed master of water astral energy, so you must configure your defensive accessories to your utmost ability in order to survive. It is strongly advised to make and equip Opal accessories or Freeze Charms, depending on which element attacks are lagging the most. These particular accessories significantly reduce incoming water and ice damage, essentially negating his most dangerous sweeping attacks and projectiles.
Without those specific elemental resistances, his quick, icy magic will readily erode your health pools and inflict the crippling freeze status. And you’ll want to stock up your medical inventory with essential consumables before crossing the final threshold into the boss arena. Use your earned currency to buy a healthy max supply of Apple Gels and Treat Gels for flat health-point recovery.
You’ll also want plenty of Orange Gels and Pineapple Gels to keep your shared Cure Points pool replenished as the grueling battle goes on. Make sure you have a full supply of Life Bottles on hand to quickly revive any unexpected knockouts from his high-speed sword dashes. In this long endurance fight, running out of resurrection items is basically an instant death sentence for your whole campaign.
Setting Up the Party AI for a High-Speed Duel
Proper AI companion configuration is absolutely critical to battlefield control with Lord Vholran’s hyper-aggression and constant teleporting strikes. Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, and Kisara make up the ideal four-person active roster for this high-intensity engagement. Kisara’s heavy shield mechanics and defensive boosts are so valuable here to anchor your front line against Vholran’s constant physical pressure.
In the cramped confines of the room, you have to keep Alphen ahead, trading blow for blow with the tyrant. This means your ranged backline can operate safely from a distance, away from the direct path of his forward cleaving sword swings. Configure Shionne as your primary, hyper-vigilant healer by opening your Strategy menu before the encounter begins.
Set her behavioral parameters to strictly prioritize recovery and status preservation over outright magical damage output. Make sure she auto-casts the high-end heals the second anyone drops below some comfortable safety net of 70% health. Rinwell has to be taught to keep maximum distance along the outer perimeter of the vast throne room.
She should definitely focus on her long-range elemental spells, trying to take advantage of any small opening, while keeping her support skills for emergencies only. Keep your backline spread wide for safety, so the boss’s massive sweeping water waves don’t hit multiple party members at once. Kisara should be in a position to stand her ground near Alphen, acting as a sturdy physical wall to soak up any rogue attacks that get past your evasive maneuvers.
Phase One Navigation and the Ultimate Evade
The moment the battle is officially joined, Vholran will charge across the throne room with his katana unsheathed, closing the gap in a flash. The main physical arsenal in this first phase is represented by the lightning-fast forward thrusts, the wide sweeping slashes, and a sudden rising uppercut. These physical hits can instantly juggle an unprepared character through the air. Spatial awareness is your absolute #1 priority.

He also often teleports short distances rapidly to get directly behind your controlled character, completely messing up your camera angle. You have to avoid the temptation to just rush in and mash your standard attack buttons to safely generate offensive momentum. Or practice a very patient defensive posture and study his physical telegraphs with absolute unwavering focus.
If you see Vholran crouching or sheathing his blade for a brief moment, he's preparing to launch himself into a high-speed dash attack across the polished floor. A Perfect Evade is when you time your dodge roll perfectly, and the action around your character slows down for a second. Immediately follow this with a Counter Edge strike to deal guaranteed critical damage right into his open flank.
These grounded counterattacks are way safer to rely on than risk a long aerial combo that leaves Alphen completely defenseless when he lands. Vholran has a huge amount of natural hyper-armor during his attack animations, so your normal hits won't easily make him flinch. In this first clash of swords, your best weapons are patience and timing.
How to Make the Most of Kisara and Rinwell’s Tactical Interruptions
During the first part of the duel, you'll see your party members' Boost Gauges slowly fill up to a bright blue glow. The key: Managing these specialized companion assists correctly – the absolute mathematical key to completely dismantling Vholran’s high-speed offensive rhythm. Kisara's massive shield bash is literally built to stop charging foes, making her an invaluable asset whenever the sovereign is gearing up for a forward rush.
You'll see Vholran briefly light up, then a burst of relentless forward sprints that hit multiple times. Use Kisara's Boost Attack immediately. Her unbreakable guard will crash with his sword with great force, effectively canceling out any offensive momentum and immediately causing a Core Break state. This causes the arrogant lord to lose his footing and fall helplessly to the floor, thoroughly paralyzed for a generous amount of time.
When he is knocked down for a while, tell Alphen to get in close and let fly with his most destructive Flaming Edge combos. Use a safe chunk of his health pool to unleash his best fiery skills and quickly burn through the boss’s first health bar. The best way to comfortably pace the fight is to maximize your burst damage during these brief grounded windows.
Also, Vholran will often back off to a safe distance and start to aggressively charge up high-tier water elemental spells to flood the arena. This dangerous behavior is easily identified by looking for the glowing purple casting circles that appear directly beneath his boots. As soon as you see this magical aura coming up, activate Rinwell's boost assist to immediately step in and absorb the collected energy.
Sovereign Awakening and Phase II Survival
If you manage to successfully drain his first health pool, a spectacular cinematic sequence will ensue, where Vholran will fully activate his dormant sovereign powers. He’ll drop his heavy coat, draw a second blade of pure astral energy, and wrap himself in a dark and ominous aura, for good. This begins the second, much more dangerous half of the encounter, where his speed and damage output are greatly amplified.
It is in this chaotic second phase that his physical moveset evolves to include wide-reaching area-of-effect elemental explosions along with his normal sword slashes. He'll start teleporting like crazy around the room, firing off quick-fire columns of water and waves of dark energy from totally unexpected angles. Attempting to trade hits aggressively with the sovereign while it is in this empowered state is a very risky gamble.
If you attempt to force things offensively, a reckless push will quickly result in a sudden and devastating party wipe before you have a chance to react. You are immediately forced to revert back to a totally defensive playstyle, just running in wide, continuous circles around the throne room. Roll at the right time to avoid his tracking energy waves, but be careful of the environmental hazards he leaves on the floor.
Study his new, wildly erratic attack patterns carefully, while letting your backline safely focus on keeping everyone fully healed. You wait for him to finish his long multi-hit elemental combos, then you move in for one punishing counterattack. It’s only discipline and restraint that keep your party alive in this overwhelming barrage of sovereign power.
Getting Through the Over Limit Storm and Mystic Artes
Eventually, as you whittle down his last health bar, the sovereign will roar in rage and go into his devastating Over Limit mode. This unique glowing aura means his natural hyper-armor has become completely unbreakable, meaning your standard attacks will no longer stun him at all. In addition, he gets rid of all his magical casting times so he can conjure up huge hazards that clear the screen instantly.

The absolute worst thing he can do at this stage is his signature Mystic Arte, Execution, which will wipe out your whole team. When he flies into the middle of the room and the arena is plunged into darkness, ensure your party is fully healed right away. The resulting cinematic explosion fills the entire battlefield, dealing unavoidable catastrophic damage to all active combatants.
If Shionne hasn't drained your shared pool of Cure Points by this point, this single attack will easily wipe out your entire squad. As soon as you survive the blast, pause the game and distribute Treat Gels and Life Bottles manually to stabilize your heavily wounded frontline. You have to pull your team back from the brink of defeat, while also dodging his constant follow-up attacks.
Delivering the Climactic Final Blow
Once the brutal, chaotic blitz of his second phase finally begins to fade, the tyrant will take a short moment to regain his physical strength. He will be exhausted now, ready to be hit hard by your last, concentrated, perfectly coordinated assault. This is your last chance to take advantage of his exhaustion, and to win for the liberation of Pelegion a hard-fought victory.
Overwhelm Alphen’s shattering defensive guard by coordinating his blazing sword attacks with any remaining companion Boost Gauges. You need to lock the weakened sovereign into a continuous, unbreakable stagger loop so he can't generate another devastating Over Limit surge. The battle ends as your whole active party continually pours their strongest physical and magical resources into his vulnerable frame.
The blue crosshair diamond that floats directly on top of the boss will fill up very quickly during this final frantic barrage. When the Strike prompt flashes brightly on your screen, press the corresponding directional pad prompt to end the duel. This input will trigger a deeply satisfying, story-driven cinematic finishing move to end the brutal and emotional confrontation.
As this fantastic last blow shatters his sword forever, this will be the end of your fierce, harrowing battle in the high towers of Del Fharis Castle. Your victory over Lord Vholran Igniseri is a monumental milestone, a testament to your absolute mastery of evasive timing, tactical patience, and coordination with companions under extreme duress. The way ahead is clear, at least for the moment, with the cruel sovereign defeated, the fate of the two colliding worlds changed forever.
