Ambergris is an essential resource for raising a Magmasaur in ARK: Survival Ascended – Genesis: Part 1. It is easy to gather once you know which biome to visit and what the correct resource rocks look like. However, the Lunar Biome’s dangerous sunlight can quickly kill an unprepared survivor.
Travel to the Lunar Biome
Ambergris is found throughout the Lunar Biome, also known as the Space Biome. Open the Biome Teleportation menu and select Lunar to travel there. The Northeast teleport location is a useful starting point because it usually provides easy access to the surrounding floating islands.
You can jump a long way between islands because the biome has low gravity. This lets you search a big area without having to use a flying thing.

Find the Pointed Ambergris Rocks
When you get there, look for tall, triangular rocks that point up. It's easy to spot these rocks because their tips are sharp and some of their surfaces are slightly orange or brown.
They can appear on both large and small floating islands. Some may blend into the surrounding terrain, so check the edges, raised sections, and rocky areas carefully.

Harvest Ambergris
Strike the pointed rocks with your harvesting tool to collect Ambergris. Each rock provides a large amount, and several resource nodes can usually be found close together.
Ambergris is also very heavy. Gathering multiple rocks can quickly fill your inventory and leave you over-encumbered. Avoid collecting more than you can safely carry unless you have a nearby storage creature or another way to transport the resource.
Avoid Direct Sunlight
The greatest danger in the Lunar Biome is direct sunlight. Standing in a bright area causes intense burning damage similar to environmental radiation. You may survive brief exposure, but remaining in the sunlight for too long can rapidly drain your Health.
Move through shaded sections whenever possible. The shadows created by floating rocks and islands provide protection from the damaging sunlight. Plan your jumps carefully and identify the next shaded area before crossing an exposed section.

Search the Smaller Islands
Ambergris rocks are spread across most of the Lunar Biome’s floating islands. Larger islands may have more visible deposits, but smaller islands can also contain several pointed rocks.
Use the low-gravity environment to move between nearby islands and continue checking shaded rocky areas. Once you recognise the triangular shape of the correct resource node, you can gather a large supply of Ambergris within a short time.
