Tales of Arise Guide | How to Beat Red Woman

Here's a guide on how to beat the Red Woman in Tales of Arise.

Game Guide by Imdeadfrfr on  Jun 03, 2026

As your revolutionary quest to overthrow the tyrannical Renan lords nears its conclusion, your party must confront the age-old secrets of the past. In your journeys across Dahna, you have always encountered a strange, silent woman dressed entirely in red, who has been lurking at the edge of every major historical milestone.

She saw your triumphs from the ash-strewn wastes of Calaglia to the stormy waters of Ganath Haros but never spoke a word of interference. This spooky observer now comes out of the background as Alphen and his companions successfully smash through the sterile, high-tech strongholds of Lenegis.

You will go into the Classified Area, deep in the restricted corridors of the Forbidden Zone, to find the ancient Altar Room. Here, the mysterious figure decides to stand in your way, shedding the passive act to reveal a terrifying connection to the Helganquil collective.

Red Woman, instead of fighting as a single humanoid commander, immediately utilizes advanced astral technology to duplicate her physical form. At the start of the battle, she divides into three identical crystalline clones that spread throughout the room and completely surround your party. This is a huge late-game checkpoint that will really test your spatial awareness, target prioritization, and multi-target defensive positioning to the limit.

Basic Gear Optimization and Inventory Checks

If you rush blindly into the Altar Room without an adequately audited inventory, an ignominious defeat will be quick. Before you cross the threshold into the Classified Area, make it an absolute priority to visit the nearest automated merchant terminal. Maximize your stock of flat recovery items, especially high-tier Apple Gels, Treat Gels, and Heavy Treats.

You will also need a large supply of Orange Gels and Pineapple Gels to keep your shared Cure Points pool from running dry. Also, maintain a reserve of Life Bottles to immediately counter unexpected knockouts from the boss's dark energy attacks. In this frantic multi-target endurance match, if you run out of resurrection resources, your team will be instantly doomed.

In addition to checking your consumables, take the time to thoroughly inspect and upgrade your party’s active weapon tiers. Alphen must use his best available forged blade at maximum level to make your close-quarters physical combos do competitive damage. Creating defensive gear that offers flat physical mitigation or boosts your movement speed will also act as a vital safety net for your backline.

Design the Ultimate Anti Dark Roster

The Red Woman boss battle has unique elemental properties that require a highly calculated, specific approach to your character lineup. The three clones are all highly sensitive to dark astral energy. Meaning they have a severe and exploitable mathematical weakness against Light-based attacks. This is a massive defensive vulnerability you can exploit by putting Rinwell at the absolute center of your offensive game plan.

For this intense confrontation, your ideal active four-person team is Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, and either Law or Dohalim. If you’re letting the AI control Rinwell, then you’ll need to manually set her active skills by opening the strategy menu. Disable all her non-light elemental artes, forcing her computer logic to loop high-tier spells like Holy Lance and Divine Streak.

Arrange for Shionne to be your hyper-vigilant, dedicated primary healer who perfectly stabilizes the party’s health pool. Set her behavior to strictly favor health restoration and status cleanses from a safe distance along the outside perimeter. This division of duties gives your casters a safe way to break the enemy, while Alphen takes care of the front line in person.

How the Shared Health Pool Mechanic Works

The most defining and important tactical aspect of this encounter is the unique structure of the enemies' health bars. The three active clones moving across the laboratory floor each have one health indicator and one large shared collective pool. This means that any damage you do to any one clone is subtracted directly from the central boss gauge at the top of your screen.

Both characters share the same pool of health, so wide sweeping area of effect magical artes can greatly speed up the pace of the duel. If you can cluster the clones, hitting all three at once with a big spell will increase your overall damage output drastically by a factor of three. Rinwell’s high-tier light magic is perfect to exploit this mechanic, shredding through the central boss gauge in a matter of seconds.

But, even so, the most effective way to do it is to maximize collateral damage. But your primary physical target should always be to systematically isolate one clone. Tunneling your controlled character’s physical strikes to one target allows you to take that figure off the field much faster. Killing a single clone immediately kills some number of projectiles on the field, and permanently breaks their multi-attacks.

Tactical Positioning and Avoidance of Phase One Hazards

When the battle officially starts, the 3 Red Woman clones will fan out and trap your controlled character in a crossfire. Their main attack pattern is to call forth spinning, floating disks and chakrams that zip around the tile floor, following your party members. These metallic hazards deal continuous multi-hit damage when touched, knocking your characters off balance, and ruining active spell-casting animations altogether.

To get through this first onslaught, you need to maintain a very disciplined physical posture and not rush into the middle of the room like a bull. It is a very dangerous mistake to stand in the open space between two separate clones. This will cause massive damage. The Red Woman figures will often draw upon their inner energy to blast high-intensity beams of Dark Astral Energy directly at one another.

This leaves a scorching trail of energy across the lab floor that can easily destroy any character in the line of fire. Instead, always keep Alphen on the outer flanks of the battlefield, with his back to the walls, while targeting the outermost clone. This safe physical positioning keeps your main healer out of danger while you build your combo counts steadily.

Flanking Maneuvers and Counter-Maneuvers

You can apply consistent physical pressure while keeping your controlled character safe behind an isolated clone, without exposing your frontline to projectiles coming from the front. A specific blind spot is the perfect time to spam Alphen’s high damage grounded skills like Reigning Slash. The heavy sword arte will deal massive posture damage to the target and is completely safe from tracking chakrams.

While hacking away at the clone's rear armor, keep a hyper-vigilant eye on its character model for sudden counter-attack telegraphs. It makes an instant circular shield as soon as you see the glowing figure begin to spin fast on its central axis. This spinning motion is synchronized with a dodge roll, creating a successful Perfect Evade that temporarily slows time.

Then, exploit this defensive move immediately with a precise counter edge strike that pierces directly into the exposed core cavity of the clone. These quick, grounded counterattacks are much safer than trying to perform long aerial combos, which leave Alphen completely exposed once he lands. Keep up this patient dance of flanking and dodging until you finally break the enemy's posture.

Phase Two Teleportation Frenzy: What to Do

If you can get the collective health bar to go below halfway, the pacing of the encounter will be through the roof. The other clones will let out a creepy screech and start frantically warping all over the boundaries of the arena. They’ll teleport fast and furious, in a straight line or a random zigzag pattern, and try to screw with your camera angle and ambush your casters.

This hyper-active phase can easily send your AI companions into a panic and right in the way of incoming physical strikes. To fight this teleportation mania, you should put your main controlled character into a full stop next to one of the active figures. Forcing Alphen to stand his ground causes the clone to go for predictable close-range melee slashes instead of continuous tracking teleports.

This localized stability provides a nice, stable target for your backline allies to lock onto with their most powerful light incantations. If multiple clones begin a joint spell simultaneously during this high-speed phase, do not hesitate to interrupt immediately. Punch through their hyper-armor with Alphen’s fiery Boost Attack, and cancel their casting loops altogether.

Surviving the Dark Energy Blast

In the final stages of the battle, the surviving clones will gather a huge amount of atmospheric dark energy to cast their final spell. They'll face off across the arena floor, blasting a massive, screen-shattering laser beam of Dark Astral Energy. This catastrophic wave covers a huge chunk of the battlefield and can definitely deliver a sudden one-hit knockout.

The instant you see the purple casting indicators around the figures, you have to immediately cut all offensive momentum. Change your controlled character to a completely passive, defensive playstyle and concentrate on nothing but survival. Dash to the side off the main path of the incoming beams, spamming your dodge roll to get out of the tracking paths cleanly.

If the blast hits an AI companion and he/she is suddenly knocked out, quickly pause the game and use an item. Use a Life Bottle from your inventory screen to instantly revive the fallen teammate, saving precious time and effort. With Shionne, don’t risk going into the danger zone to cast a slow resurrection spell, as that leaves your healer vulnerable.

Performing the Climactic Boost Strike

Wait till the dark energy storm is completely over. Then try to push your attack again and rearrange your lines. So when the blue Over Limit aura naturally vanishes from the boss's body, the clones will pause for a short time to recharge their stamina. This short period of total exhaustion is your last chance to come close and win a hard-fought battle.

Combine Alphen's Blazing Sword skills with your team's remaining Boost Gauges to put the remaining characters in an infinite hit-stun loop. The blue crosshair diamond floating over the target will be maximized quickly with continuous light magic and heavy close-range sword strikes. This concentrated barrage prevents the weakened enemy from launching a final counter-offensive or initiating another teleportation cycle.

If you see the Strike prompt light up on your user interface, press the correct directional pad input to give the final blow at that very millisecond. This command will unleash an epic story-driven cinematic finishing move that will turn the remains of the Helganquil clones to dust forever. Defeating the Red Woman is a monumental feat that opens up the path to the final secrets of Rena and demonstrates complete mastery of multi-target coordination under extreme pressure.
