Your journey through Hollow Knight: Silksong will take you up against some tough bosses, like Lace. This guide will teach you everything you need to know to beat Lace, including the best ways to fight, how to spot her attacks, and the best ways to win this battle.

Boss Location

Lace can be found in the Deep Docks area. After fighting Lace in the Deep Docks, you'll be fighting Lace again later on in a different place, so you need to be good at this boss fight before you can face Lace again in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Utilize Jumping for Defense

If you time your jumps right, you can avoid most of Lace's attacking moves. Keep an eye out for the signs that Lace is releasing an attack. You can avoid taking damage from most of Lace's attacks if you time your jump right.

Attack Recovery Windows

After launching each attack sequence, Lace has a short recovery time. To protect herself, Lace can't move or attack right away during these weak spots. Close the distance and land one or two quick hits before running back to a safe place to take advantage of these gaps in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Avoid Special Attack Zone

A significant circular indicator will show up on the ground to let you know that Lace has a devastating special attack that is based on leaping.

This circle appears directly in front of Lace, indicating the location of the dangerous area for the oncoming special attack. Place yourself outside of this marked area to keep this strong move from doing a lot of damage to you in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Attack Pattern Analysis

The double slash move that Lace uses is simple and lets her move forward while striking. This strike covers a fair amount of ground in front of Lace, so you need to stay away or time your dodge correctly.

Lace does several quick hits while staying in place during this stationary attack, which lasts about two seconds. You can easily dodge this attack pattern if you stay far enough away from Lace during the execution phase in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Lace lets you know about this move by striking a unique two-handed sword stance for about one second. After this phase of getting ready, Lace lunges forward toward the direction she is facing at the moment. To dodge this directional attack, watch out for the change in stance.

Lace jumps into the air and then quickly strikes you down with a downward slash during this attack routine. Keep an eye on Lace's movement in the air and move so that you don't get hit by the falling strike in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

In terms of offense, this is Lace's most dangerous skill. There is a three-second channeling time at the start of the attack, during which the circular area-of-effect indicator shows up on the ground.

Once the channeling phase is over, Lace jumps into the air and fires a powerful combination attack that ends with a decisive ground strike. The damage zone for the entire process remains within the circle that appears during the first channeling phase, so positioning is crucial for survival in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
