As you progress further into SAND: Raiders of Sophie, you will begin to require Gunpowder more and more. It is also used in a significant portion of the mid and late game Tech Tree, as well as some advanced gear and crafting recipes, which can cause a significant slowdown in your build if you run out of it.

Where to Look

Gunpowder is most easily found in Green Rare Parts Crates. These crates are different from the normal ones and have a good chance of dropping Gunpowder every time you open one. These are the crates to pursue if you're looking for a consistent supply.

Choosing the best locations

Rare Parts Crates can also be found at small sites, such as shipwrecks or buildings in the sand. However, your chances increase significantly when you venture into named areas, particularly the larger towns and industrial areas dotted around the islands. Those places just seem to retain more of them.

Looting Efficiently

Whenever you come across a Rare Parts Crate, open it. Gunpowder is a resource that is used in many upgrades later on, so it's better to get as much as possible on one expedition than to return for it repeatedly. The more crates you open, the more likely you are to walk away with a good stash.

Staying Safe While You Farm

Remember, these high value loot areas attract people. Other players and stronger enemies will appear in the same areas, so be aware of your surroundings, avoid unnecessary fights and exit safely after the battle. If you lose your extraction, you lose all the time you spent collecting it.
