In SAND: Raiders of Sophie, you'll have only basic unframed cargo decks to work with early on in the game. They are working, but they are having issues. No supporting frames means you can't build on top of them, and they don't have walls to keep your cargo safe. This is a bug that is fixed as you progress in the Tech Tree.

Finding the Upgrade

Go back to the main lobby and open the Tech Tree. From there, find the orange branch, which belongs to Kaiser's Friends. The first upgrade you will find there is the Framed Cargo Deck, which is unlocked for 1,400 Crowns.

What the Upgrade Gives You

This version also has structural supports to add compartments and decks to it. The main issue with the standard version is now resolved.

Going Further Up the Tree

As you progress through the Tech Tree, you'll find yourself facing Cargo Holds and other upgraded storage. These add enclosed walls, providing your cargo real protection and new design possibilities for your Trampler. Just keep in mind that the more good ones are more expensive in Crowns and the more rare ones you ask for, the further you go.
